TEHRAN – A number of cineastes met with the head of Esra International Foundation for Revealed Knowledge, Ayatollah Abdollah Javadi Amoli, on Sunday.

Ayatollah Javadi Amoli called cinema the joint language of the world, and said that art, especially cinema, must be a clear manifestation of truth, the Persian service of MNA reported on Sunday.

He also emphasized the rich culture of the country and said that this rich culture can be transferred to other cultures and civilizations through the joint language (of cinema).

“Today the world easily accepts most of the words of Islam such as respecting others’ privacy. The art has this power to influence the society and change the society into a place where there are no lies, distrust or embezzlement and fraud,” he added.

He also proposed that the cineastes read more of the books by the great Iranian scholars and writers such as Attar and Rumi and use them as their source of inspirations.

Ayatollah Javadi Amoli also compared the Western cinema with some types of music that put the listeners to sleep. “However, some songs make a person wake up and our cinema must be like the songs that urge those who are sleeping to wake up,” he explained.

Cinema Organization of Iran Director Hojjatollah Ayyubi, Managing Director of Iran’s House of Cinema Reza Mirkarimi and filmmaker Majid Majidi were among the participants who also visited different sections of the foundation.
